Naomi Osaka named Goodwill Ambassador of Haiti by President Jovenel Moise

On November 8, 2018, Haitian President Jovenel Moise named Haitian-Japanese US Open Tennis champion Naomi Osaka Goodwill Ambassador for the promotion of Haitian sport.

"I took the opportunity to give her a plaque of honor, in the name of the Republic of Haiti, as a sign of our gratitude," President Jovenel Moise said in a Twitter message.

A special ceremony was organized in honor of Naomi Osaka and her family at the National Palace that day.

Haiti President Jovenel Moise welcomes Naomi Osaka and Family to the National Palace

Haitian President Jovenel Moise and his wife, first lady Martine Moise, welcomed Haitian-Japanese tennis champion Naomi Osaka and her family to the National Palace on Thursday November 8 2018.

Naomi Osaka was accompanied by her sister Mari Osaka, her Japanese mother Tamaki Osaka and her Haitian father Leonard Francois.

President Jovenel Moise tweets:

"The First Lady and I are pleased to welcome to the National Palace our compatriot Naomi Osaka, recent champion of the US Open, as part of a ceremony organized in her honor."
